Joint meeting with the Railway and Terminal Advisory Groups of RFC Amber, RFC Baltic-Adriatic and RFC Rhine-Danube

On 14 May RFCs Amber, Baltic-Adriatic and Rhine-Danube hold a joint meeting with the Railway and Terminal Advisory Groups of the corridors. The event took place in Nagycenk, in a historical Hungarian village near Sopron where the premises of GYSEV is also located.

The joint advisory group’s meeting of the three corridors gave an excellent opportunity for all stakeholders to exchange views on current market needs, expected infrastructure developments of the IMs and solutions arising from the freight traffic flows and challenges expected in the future.

Mr László Mosóczi, president of hosting organisation GYSEV expressed the importance of the TEN-T network and the future European Transport Corridors (ETCs) with their logistical clusters and nodes, which are crucial crucial elements in the supply chain. He also highlighted the importance of a strong customer focus and welcomed the cooperation between RFC Amber, RFC Baltic-Adriatic and RFC Rhine-Danube, and their collaboration in the migration phase into ETCs.

A proposal for an RU Memorandum of Understanding was presented by Martin Erlinger, spokesperson of RFC RD. It will reflect a proactive step in ensuring that RUs maintain a clear and influential role within the changing EU rail freight landscape. It will also support a more inclusive, transparent, and efficient governance structure which is critical for the success of rail freight corridors in the coming years.

Mr Roman Stanczak noted that PaPs supporting extra-long freight trains (up to 660 meters) were also introduced, primarily between Czechowice Dziedzice and Bratislava, while standard train lengths toward Zwardoń remained limited to 360 meters. Another key development was a joint PaP offer with RFC Mediterranean from Koper to Hodoš, demonstrating increasing cross-corridor cooperation. On the occasion of Mr Stańczak’s retirement, the board thanked him for his prominent work and outstanding performance in ensuring RFC Amber’s capacity allocation throughout its entire operational period.

RFC Amber has played a crucial role in enhancing freight transport and regional connectivity in Central and Eastern Europe. As presented by Mrs Andrea Mosóczi, Chairperson and Márk Háry, Managing Director the corridor’s five-year journey highlights consistent progress in governance, infrastructure, customer engagement, and its evolving strategic significance within the European transport framework. Mrs Mosóczi and Mr Háry thanked also Mr András Nyíri, RAG-TAG spokesperson for his continuous support, by bringing the most important customer focuses into the operational work of the corridor.

The meeting served also as the closing event of RFC Amber, as the corridor will merge with RFC Baltic-Adriatic from 2026 in accordance with the new TEN-T regulation, making the routes of the main European freight transport axes even more efficient.

At the end of the meeting, participants were invited for a ride by the museum’s train on the narrow-gauge railway line of GYSEV which was followed by a guided tour in the loco workshop in Fertőboz.
