Update of 31-01-2024:
The first track has been put into operation, although freight trains in a affected section can run on the second track in a limited time, the impact is so low that less than 25% of trains need an operational treatment.
We will also inform you after the second track will be put into operation, expected to be in the coming weeks.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The tracks and switches were seriously damaged and the incident required the immediate total closure of both tracks between Galanta and Gáň stations.
This section is a part of RFC Amber, specifically the Leopoldov – Komárom/Štúrovo (Szob) section. International freight trains on this corridor can either use the Rusovce-Rajka crossing border or use the rerouting line from Leopodov via Bratislava to Galanta. The same is for the opposite direction.
The estimated time of operation of both tracks is February 1, 2024. According to the ICM handbook, this is ICM case. In 24 hours, only one international freight train was rerouted from Leopoldov via Bratislava to Galanta.
We will inform you about significant changes until the incident is closed.
