Opening Event of the Amber Rail Freight Corridor taking place on 18 September 2019 in Koper
The Amber RFC became operational in January 2019. It is the youngest among the ten operational EU Rail Freight Corridors and the first corridor set up on the initiative of the EU Member States concerned. In order to celebrate the achievement of this important milestone together with customers and stakeholders, the Amber RFC will hold its official Opening Event on 18 September 2019 in Koper in Slovenia.
The Opening Event will take place in the prestigious Preatorian Palace in the historic centre of the city. The event will gather key representatives of the EU Commission, Ministries of the four countries participating in the corridor, customers and stakeholders and the Infrastructure Managers and Allocation Body managing the corridor. The program will comprise a conference, a high-level roundtable and a site visit to the port of Koper.
Koper plays an important role for the Amber RFC, being the southern entry point of the corridor and with its expanding seaport at the shores of the Adriatic Sea an important origin and destination of many trains using the corridor. Koper is also one of the destinations of the historic Amber Road, which is the eponym of the corridor.
